Wrinkles

Studies show that aging is not the only cause of wrinkles. Ultraviolet light, UVA or UVB exposure is responsible for 90% of aging skin. It also depends on the race of the person and their pigment protection. Wrinkling of the skin is caused by sun damage, lack of hydration, smoking, habitual facial expression and many other factors. There is not much that we can do to stop wrinkles because this is part of the aging process. We can slow this down with good skin care and proper techniques for prevention. Skincare and Prevention: • Use sun screen when going outside • Use milk cream to clean face instead of soap • Stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day • Moisturize your skin at night • Add olive oil to your bath water • Use a makeup that contains moisturizer • Use of Tretinoin (Retin A), this is sometimes prescribed for fine wrinkles • Massage the face and the neck Causes: • Environment. The volume of fat cells has been reduced and will make the skin sag. • Age. As we get older, skin cells divide more slowly and the dermis starts to thin. The elastic loosens and causes the skin to wrinkle. • Sun damage. The skin will age faster with exposure to too much sun (ultraviolet radiation) Treatment: • Topical retinoid from vitamin A. • Over-the-counter wrinkle cream. • Spa treatments.
